Hoskison relishes second chance

Berkshire professional John Hoskison is celebrating a return to topflight golf, after finishing runner up in the European Seniors Tour qualifying school in Portugal.

The performance, and the result , marks a dramatic change of fortunes for the former European Tour player whose life was turned upside down in 1995 when he was sentenced to three years in Wandsworth prison after killing a cycist while returning from a golf match.

John was over the legal alcohol limit at the time and drove away from the accident without stopping. After serving his sentence, he wrote a book about his experiences of the prison system, called "inside", which went on to become a seminal text within the legal profession.

With those dark days firmly behind him, 49 year old Hoskison is now beginning preparation for the Seniors Tour, but he will have to wait until his milestone birthday, which will allow the former Tour player to compete against his peers once again.

On behalf of Club Pro Network we all wish him the very best of luck.
